People tell nursing school applicants “oh the HESI is easy, just review some basic stuff.” Those people probably didn’t score as high as they wanted to. The HESI A2 is a real exam with real consequences for your application.
Your score determines whether you get into your program. A low score means you wait another semester—or get rejected entirely. According to the official HESI exam overview, the exam covers math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physics. That’s a lot of ground.
Where Most People Lose Points
The math section trips people up with basic conversions and dosage calculations. The anatomy section assumes you remember stuff from high school you’ve long forgotten. These two sections are the most fixable with targeted practice.
The Fastest Way to Prepare
Get a HESI A2 Test Bank and run through it section by section. Identify which areas you’re weakest in after your first pass. Spend the bulk of your remaining study time there. Don’t over-invest in things you already know.
